Tax-advisor channel
This page is for the Firm Admin (role merchant_admin). It describes how to define, under Settings → Tax advisor (/settings/stb), which channel the 6-file handoff uses to reach the tax advisor (StB for short).
Channel types
Section titled “Channel types”In the Kind field you choose one of three types:
Kind (kind) | How the pack is delivered | Relevant fields |
|---|---|---|
| smtp | By email to the tax advisor | To, optional CC, optional S/MIME certificate |
| portal | Via a portal/upload target | Portal URL, Portal secret reference |
| duo | Both at once | Fields from smtp and portal |
Fields in detail
Section titled “Fields in detail”- To — the tax advisor’s email address (smtp/duo).
- CC — optional carbon-copy recipients (smtp/duo).
- S/MIME certificate (PEM) — optional certificate for signed/encrypted email (smtp/duo).
- Portal URL — target URL of the portal (portal/duo).
- Portal secret reference — reference to the stored portal secret (portal/duo).
Sandbox vs. live
Section titled “Sandbox vs. live”Actual email delivery depends on the server-side Postmark token:
- Without a Postmark token, delivery runs in sandbox mode: the confirmation shows
delivery: "sandbox"— no real email is sent. Ideal for testing the flow. - With a configured Postmark token, the email is sent for real.
Step by step
Section titled “Step by step”- Open Settings → Tax advisor (
/settings/stb). - Choose the kind (smtp / portal / duo).
- Fill in the fields that match the kind.
- Save.
- On the Handoff page, confirm the configured channel is shown.
Next step
Section titled “Next step”The configured channel appears on the Handoff page and in the dispatch history. Background on the pack itself: 6-file handoff.
